Every year you have plenty of mostly young people that get caught in Thailand smuggling drugs for another person. They do this despite the fact that plenty of other people are sitting just a few kilometers away in the famous prison Bangkok Hilton. Books and even movies have been done about the same subject and people still do not get it, you should never take another person’s luggage over a border.
The Thai law is pretty clear about this and it does not matter what you say in the court, you carry the bag you are guilty. The only way to get off easier is to confess and cooperate with the prosecutor and police but it still up to the judge as always in Thailand.
Most of the cases you are just an offer lamb that the police will catch and the bigger load of drugs will off course walk pass unnoticed. Most of the police drug bust are because of tip offs and not good police work and you can figure out way yourself.
In recent years drugs have been coming in to Thailand as well so you should not only be careful moving someone bag from Thailand but also to Thailand.
The Thai police constantly raids buses and bus stations for drug smugglers and tourist from places like Koh Samet and Samui.

Maybe you should visit a Thai prison and ask how many and you find a big bunch of people.
